It's snowing here again, and I feel like doing nothing more than going home, piling on the quilts and deer furs, and hibernating for the rest of the day. Earlier on in the morning, before I got to work, it was just freezing rain coming down, and I thought that it was inconvenient, but wouldn't be a problem. But over the course of the next hour, the rain changed to snow.
Now, don't get me wrong: it is pretty, and I can appreciate it from an aesthetic point of view. However, people here in Oregon don't really know how to drive in the snow at all, so being a pedestrian like I am in this weather can be an exercise in car-dodging. I just pray that it doesn't stick, because if it does and it freezes overnight, I may have a very hard time getting to work tomorrow. Truth be told, I'd vastly prefer not to have a repeat of those two weeks in December where I was using vacation time like whoa, because the City of Hillsboro doesn't give paid leave for freaky weather.
In general, when I'm walking home through something like this, I feel like I'm in the last Ice Age or something of the sort. Or rather, it makes me want to curl up with simple foods, something warm to drink, and preferably another warm body or two to curl up with for a time. Snowy weather reduces me to my basic instincts, which, given the right company, can make for a pleasurable evening. However, as I've just started a new month of birth control right now, I'm also growly and sort of moody on top of it all.
Oh! Good news, though! Tyson and I signed the final papers for getting an apartment together, and we'll be moving right after Valentine's Day! We'll be getting a two bedroom, one bath apartment in the same complex as![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
tee_moss, valliegirl, mechalith, and nightspoken. It's a five minute walk to the MAX, and we'll have our own washer and dryer. I can't tell you how thrilled I am by the prospect of not having to save all my quarters for laundry. Tyson's already got it all decorated in his head, and it should be fun! The front rooms will be sort of minimalistic, but our room is going to be Art Deco, and the spare bedroom will be our "parlour" and library, and will be done up in grand Victorian/steampunk/Heterodyne style. Pictures when we have them, I promise.
