(no subject)

The new job is going well. I've adapted to my new workplace duties just about as quickly as I thought I would, and have even learned to get along with the multi-line phone system. We've made a truce with one another. It doesn't bother me too much, and I don't press the wrong buttons and/or throw it across the room.

It surprises me how much I've missed working with the public. Shelving was nice and all, but I missed the people, oddly enough. Maybe it's because I haven't yet gotten any truly irate/annoying/crazy patrons yet, but I find that I like talking with folks. We have such a wealth of different ethnicities here, and I never really noticed until recently. I'm pretty good with understanding peoples' accents, and the more there are, the more fascinated I become. I love to find out where the patrons are from, and hear their stories while I check out their items or complete their application for a library card.

I'm feeling pretty confident about the National Board exam. I'm studying hard, and using a lot of what used to be e-mail/LJ time to do that instead. I should do something of a celebratory nature once I pass it...

I'm also curious as to who anonymously left me the valentine on my last post. Anyone care to speak up?
