May. 16th, 2006 10:15 pmWell, as it turns out, I didn't get to take my test yesterday after all, due to my being sick. I showed up at the Board's office and told them that I was ready to take the test, but between the snot and the coughing up phlegm (politely, of course, and in the bathroom), they sent me home. They're going to be rescheduling my test, and will mail me a new letter letting me know when that'll be. I'm kind of glad, as it gives me more time to study and make sure that I absolutely know all of the material.
The new job is working out pretty well. I like having regular hours, although having to work Wednesday through Sunday does put a bit of a damper on my weekends. The weather has started getting rather unfortunately warm, though, so the fact that I get into the pool for free kicks quite a lot of ass at the moment. I'm still trying out the different classes that they offer, and seeing where everything fits into my schedule. Definitely going swimming tomorrow night after work, though. Anyone want to come and join me? It's $6 for non-Hillsboro residents. It'd be fun...
Anyhow, other than that, not much is happening. Life goes on. I'll try to get letters out in a couple of days or so, along with posting more about Tyson's birthday and whatnot this weekend.
Oh, and on a side note, I went to one of our local antique shops tonight, and found a rather sweet postcard from 1910. I decided to buy it, but as I was going through the rest of the cards on the rack, I noticed that several were addressed to the same person: Adria Burkhart of Albany, OR. After pulling out all of the cards addressed to her, I had a stack of 45 postcards from various friends and relatives of hers from 1906 through 1911. Needless to say, I bought them all. I'm working on transcribing them now. It's fascinating to have that much of someone's life in my hands. One of the cards even features a picture of the lady in question.
