Kendra will be coming to town from Texas soon, and has asked Katrina and myself to teach her about "men, relationships, and sex". So I'm re-reading "Kiss My Tiara", and remembering why I'm a feminist. For one thing, nowadays, it's the "new 'f' word". Forget "fuck"--the new bad word is "feminist"!
Besides the stereotypes that exist of feminists, why would someone be afraid of calling themselves one if that's what they are? Names have power, and whether psychologically or magically, after a while, you often convince yourself that you are that which you call yourself. So long as you're honest with yourself about who you really are, I don't see a problem with that. "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people". So be a person, not just a human. Find that which is true to your deepest self, and let it guide your every breath.
As for myself, though, I'm still proud to call myself by the "f" word.
